I went with my daughter Tana to see my Dad in Durban South Africa in November while I was on a job. He took me for tea at this hotel , the warm sun seems like a long time ago. I have had enough of winter and thought I would cheer myself up and look at these sunny pics.

This bathroom blew me away! I honestly wanted to spend a day in it and it inspired me….well first I would have to live somewhere warm then I would have to be really well off as its the best of everything and to top it i would need to be  confident enough to walk around the huge space in my birth suit….I am working on it all but I may run out of time in this life:) the house is available as a location for shoots through Amazing Spaces in South Africa http://www.amazingspaces.co.za/ and it belongs to the people who own the lovely Weylandts Interiors.  http://weylandts.co.za/

I am not quite sure why but I started doing a series of pictures of bathrooms/loos .I think I was inspired one night after a few glasses of wine in the Au Petit Fer a Cheval (Horseshoe Bar) in Paris. The bar is dinky and slinky with a beautiful zinc topped horse shoe shaped counter and the loo was hardly big enough to sling a cat but it was so cool…. anyway the series is ongoing and I thought I would share a few so far…..

This week a new book I photographed arrived at my door ‘Homespun Style’.
Selina Lake and I had worked on it a year ago and it was a total delight to see the
cheerful book and also remember all the lovely homeowners who looked after us so
well and all the adventures and laughs we had en route.

Some of the most favourite objects in my home come from a friend’s shop, Larache in Calvert Street, London. The quietly spoken Hassan Hajjaj, is both artist and designer of ‘things’ that you’re never quite sure if you want to wear, sit on or just look at. His work has been all over the place from the Hayward Gallery to the permanent collection at Victoria & Albert Museum as well as designing the fabulous Andy Wahloo bar in Paris. I was lucky enough to photograph his Riad in Marrakech for Selina Lake’s book ‘Bazaar Style’ and also for a feature story. He is known for designing T shirts for MoMo as well as for a host of other interesting people and has recently made some quite unbelievable sofas covered in funky Moroccan blankets.

There is something so unique about Morocco, some of the poorest people on the planet who have transformed their homes into living art….. simple, incredible colour and light and boy are they good at cushions. A while ago I photographed this interesting person’s apartment in Amsterdam…. Anke … who has a fascinating shop in Amsterdam called http://www.householdhardware.nl
and …she just happened to also have a Riad in Marrakech which ….just turned out to be one of those memorable multi-layered kind of impact full places you have to go to when you have a chance. It’s run by a Gem, in the heart of the Souk and you are made to feel like this place is your oyster… in the nicest possible touristy kinda way

There’s Weed and then there is weed……I got caught in the rain on a windy beach in Dorset with some friends and thought I would amuse myself and take a few seaweed pics. I used the camera on my iphone and completely lost myself. The colours were amazing and one of my friends said she had seen people on the beach cooking it and eating it….. mmm what do you think?
